Dance I 9/12/2012-9/13/2012



Do Now:
1. Dress out
2. Grab your spiral and a glue stick
3. Draw a straight line under the previous entry
4. Write down today’s date and following:

  • Three Step Turn- A complete turn in a straight line, using three steps.
  • Dig- Step without weight transfer.
  • Jazz Square- A jazz movement in which a dancer creates a full square in four steps.



Positions of the Feet
  1. The balls of the feet are turned out completely. The heels touch each other and the feet face outward, trying to form a straight line.
  2. The balls of both feet are turned out completely, with the heels separated by the length of one foot. Similar to first position, but the feet are spread apart.
  3. One heel of foot is in the arch of the other. The right foot could be in front of the left and the left foot could be in front of the right.
  4. The feet are placed the same as third position, but one step apart.
  5. One heel of foot is touching the big toe joint of the other. The right foot could be in front of the left and the left foot could be in front of the right.

Positions of the Arms
1st The arms in circular position held directly in front of the sternum (like you are holding a big beach ball).
2nd The arms extended away from body while still maintaining a slight curve of the elbows.
5th The arms held in a circular shape slightly in front of the top of the head.
